Richard Chow

Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from University of Wales in 1986. He was admitted as a Barrister to the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, London in 1988 and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1989. He has over 20 years of legal practice experience covering many areas of law including banking, property law, family and probate law, civil litigation and commercial arbitration.

Richard also advised on corporate and commercial matters and has substantial experience in preparing corporate and commercial documentation. He completed his post-graduate Masters in Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Finance at the University of Hull, England in 1997.

Since joining a well-established Malaysian corporate trustee company with a regional presence in 2012, Richard has been the Group General Manager of the corporate trustee group ('the Group').  With more than ten (10) years of working experience and exposure in the trustee industry, he has given regular talks and training to financial planning firms on the subjects of Will, Trust and Estate Planning.  His talks among others, centre on the benefits of Trust and how Trust can be structured to preserve business and family wealth across multiple generations.

 

He was the head of the Group's legal and compliance team ensuring the legality of written Wills and trust structures as well as the accuracy of the legal documents. He also oversaw the structuring and legality of family offices and was responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements pertaining to anti-money laundering duties and functions of corporate trustees. In his Singapore assignment, Richard was approved as the Resident Manager by Monetary Authority of Singapore and he took on the duties and responsibility for providing a wide range of trust services, including private trusts for well-to-do Singaporeans and foreign nationals who have chosen Singapore to secure and manage their personal wealth and global assets.

He is an active contributor and author of incisive trust and legacy planning articles, including for the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia under their widely circulated periodical magazine known as 4EJournazine.

​

With a passion for helping families better protect themselves in challenging times, Richard focuses now on private individual trusts as a major growth area. To spearhead this initiative, he established Generations ASIA Solutions to be both an onsite and online trust consultancy to provide Will writing and Trust advisory services to families in Malaysia and Singapore via a unique and accessible platform.
